Description | The Diaries and Journals of Edith Garvie. Every effort was made to ensure a date order during the catalouging process, however certain years are difficult as the diaries and journals span many months with some gaps. Garvie used a variety of notebooks, date books, work books, recipe books and, starting in the late 1970's, wrote on the reverse of older papers (personal, work, educational and philanthropic) to record her life. Edie Garvie wrote about many things and each entry is different. She often wrote about national and international newsworthy events, her friends and family, her cats, work, travel, details of the post she recieved and sent, and her religious activities. Please note that many of the diaries are written in old date books. Descriptions at item level are nonexhaustive- just a small sampling. |
